Dwight's banking career spans 26 years, with 16 years in correspondent banking. He joined Southwest Bank of Texas in 1999 shortly after the formation of the Correspondent Banking Department.

Dwight graduated from Texas A&M University in 1967 with a BBA degree (major in Finance), and subsequently earned an MBA degree from the University of Houston in 1980. He is also a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University receiving a Commercial Banking Diploma in 1975. Dwight also holds NASD Series 7 and Series 63 investment licenses.

He has served on the board of directors of Passages, Inc. since 1999 and has held the positions of Vice President, and President of the board. Passages is a Houston based health care treatment facility for chemically dependent women providing treatment procedures that include individual and group counseling.

Dwight served in the United States Army from 1967 through 1970 and earned his commission as a Lieutenant upon graduation from the Engineering Officer Candidate Regiment. He served in the Republic of Vietnam in 1970 and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Air Medal.
